CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 7/17/24

By Brent Kanitz, Director of Facilities

Despite all of the recent storms creating a bit of a mud pit in the backyard, we continue to make great progress on the Middle School/Parish Commons addition to our building! The challenges brought by all of the rain slowed progress a bit on the building of the walls, themselves, putting them slightly behind schedule, however that time allowed for some other trades to come in and get work done ahead of schedule. If weather forecasts hold anywhere close over the coming week, the walls will be right back on track.

One of the biggest question marks surrounding any major project on the wonderful clay most of our campus sits on is the suitability of soil when laying a foundation (this is a problem we ran into last year with the parking lot project). The great news in the case of this project is that the foundation has been fully poured without any major problem. Being that we’ve passed that benchmark greatly diminishes that risky unknown!

Over the next couple of weeks we expect to see continued (and accelerated) progress on the exterior walls, while our electrical and mechanical contractors work along-side to install infrastructure.

It has been a true blessing to watch the plans on paper turn to real-life and is a constant reminder of the growth, dedication, and vibrancy of the St. Paul’s community!
